Austin, Texas Ansel Nedore of Round Rock High (Texas) has become one of the fastest rising junior defensive linemen in Texas.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pounder burst onto the recruiting scene during an impressive junior season that included 57 tackles and 11 tackles for loss.

The initial offer came November 16 with Texas Tech trusting the evaluation enough to be first. Since that time, four more schools have jumped into the recruitment.

Nedore knew it was just a matter of time, but has still been taken aback.

“Honestly, yes,” Nedore told On3 Wednesday. “But it was just a matter of time to be honest. With the coaches we have. How they help us with recruiting, it was a matter of time. My teammates are going to get recruited too. It’s just a matter of time for them.”

That first offer from the Red Raiders was a sign that the hard work was paying off.

“It was like all the hard work we have been putting in was finally paying off. It’s just blessings all around.”

The hometown Texas Longhorns offer meant a lot

Nedore and his father attended the Texas Longhorns junior day on Saturday. Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis made the fast twitch junior feel wanted.

“Man, to like visit and then get an offer – I just felt great and wanted. I liked that.”

“So I sat down in Coach Bo Davis’ office. And of course he told me he liked the skills that I have to offer on the field. He gave me some things I needed to work on. He told me to come to some camp so he could work with me first hand.

Junior days visits to Texas Tech and Baylor scheduled

Nedore and family will be busy this weekend taking in junior days at Texas Tech and Baylor.

First up will be the Red Raiders.

“I haven’t been to the campus or any games. They have a good d-line core, so I’m excited about that. The d-line coach Fitch, I have a good relationship with. So I’m excited.

Sunday will be a second trip to Baylor for Nedore.

“Yes, I have been to Baylor before. It was for a game. It was vs. Oklahoma. That was a great game. The atmosphere was incredible. The hospitality made me feel like home. I loved it.”

Looking for growth off the field

Nedore is a young junior. He doesn’t turn 17 until July. With that said, he’s a mature 16 year old with a clear vision of what he is looking for in a program.

“If it’s more outside of football (that’s impressive). I’m a man before I’m a football player. So if they can help me in that field, I would like that. I’m thinking about majoring in psychology or arts.”

Nedore doesn’t appear in a rush to offer up a commitment.

“I haven’t really thought about it. I’m just exploring my options, and living in the moment. When the time comes, it will come.”

SMU and UTSA join the trio of Big 12 programs in offering. Texas A&M and Tulsa have also been by the school in recent days, in addition to the five offers.
