Bloopers are inevitable in sports. While they don’t happen very often, it’s a rare treat when they do. On Wednesday night in the Arkansas vs. Little Rock game, Arkansas pitcher Austin Ledbetter gave college baseball fans one of the best bloopers of the 2023 season. In the top of the sixth inning with the bases loaded, Ledbetter was fielding a routine ground ball, but then fell to the ground as he was attempting to make a throw to home plate.

Arkansas hit a home run on Wednesday night, making it the 29th consecutive game the Hogs have belted a homer. Unfortunately, the Razorbacks lost to Arkansas Little Rock, and it wasn’t even close. The Little Rock Trojans prevailed 11-4.

Arkansas is once again, one of the more talented teams in college baseball this season. In the latest Top 25 poll, the Hogs were ranked as the No. 5 team in the nation. This weekend, they’ll have a highly anticipated Top 20 matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers. Tennessee is currently ranked No. 16 in the country. It will be a three-game series and will begin on Friday, April 14th.

The biggest win of the season thus far came for the Hogs on Friday, March 24th, when they defeated the top-ranked LSU Tigers 9-3. Arkansas exploded for eight runs in the 10th inning to prevail in that one. They were propelled by Reese Robinett’s pinch hit three-run homer.

Arkansas also got an impressive win over No. 9 Oklahoma State in the College Baseball Showdown, when they throttled the Cowboys 18-1. That game was called after seven innings as both teams agreed to a 10-run rule. The Hogs scored five runs in the second, third, and fifth innings to take control early in that one. Jared Wegner had a three-run triple and a two-run home run in the blowout victory. Hogs’ pitcher Hunter Hollan fired five strikeouts in four innings of work, only allowing one run in the process.

Wegner leads the team in home runs, total bases, and RBIs this year. He transferred to the Hogs this offseason from the Creighton Bluejays, where he earned first team All-Big East honors in 2022. During his final season with Creighton, he led the team in home runs (11) and RBIs (53).

The 2023 SEC Tournament will be played in Hoover, Alabama. It’s set to begin on Tuesday, May 23rd.
