Bo Nix could be one of the top transfer portal options after leaving Auburn. He’s garnering plenty of interest — including from a certain SEC West team.

Nix, during an appearance on The Next Round, confirmed Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin has reached out since he entered the portal. He didn’t mention any other coaches, but said Kiffin reached out as he prepares his team for the Sugar Bowl.

“I have not spoken on the phone with Coach Kiffin,” Nix said. “I have texted him, but they’re in the middle of Sugar Bowl practice, so he’s pretty busy, himself. He’s obviously trying on his end, but he’s trying to win a game, too, and give Matt Corral his best chance to finish out his season and those guys, they’re trying to get to 11 wins, themselves.”

He announced he was entering the transfer portal on Sunday, and it sounds like teams are starting to get in touch with him.

Bo Nix on who else has reached out

He also mentioned the options he’s looking at. Ole Miss isn’t the only school to reach out, and Nix doesn’t sound like he wants to rush the process.

“I’ve spoken to a bunch of different coaches on the phone or text message, whichever one that is, and [Kiffin is] obviously not the only one,” Nix said. “But I believe that I’m in a situation that when teams need a quarterback, I would like to believe that I could be that guy for them, so I’d hope a lot of people in their situation would reach out.

“To not get into specifics is one thing, but it’s just kind of like recruitment, you know? You talk to a lot of different people. Sometimes you’ll talk to the head coach, sometimes you’ll talk to the assistant coaches, sometimes you’ll talk to an analyst. It kind of depends what their recruiting process is like. … It depends what team it is by what their recruiting style is, but I’ve talked to several different people and a lot that I think are good options.”

Nix just wrapped up his junior season with Auburn and put up some good numbers. He threw for 2,294 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions before a broken ankle took away the last two games of his season.

Auburn went 6-6 in the regular season to earn an appearance in the Birmingham Bowl against Houston. That game’s coming up Dec. 28.
