Andy Staples Picks The Arizona Bowl | Toledo Vs Wyoming | 12.27.23

The Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl will take place on Saturday with Toledo facing Wyoming at 4:30 p.m. This game lost a little bit of its luster with Dequan Finn entering the transfer portal and ultimately winding up at Baylor.

Still, this is expected to be a close game. Wyoming is currently a 3.5-point favorite for the matchup, according to DraftKings. The over-under is set at 44.5. On3’s Andy Staples was recently joined by Ralph Russo of the AP to break down the matchup and pick the game.

How to watch Toledo vs. Wyoming

Time: Dec. 30 – 4:30 p.m. ET
Channel: CW Network, FuboTV (streaming)
Location: Tucson, Ariz.

Not having Dequan Finn is a huge blow for Toledo. The Detroit, Michigan native was named the MVP of the MAC this past season after throwing for 2,657 yards and 22 touchdowns. Finn also rushed for 563 yards and seven scores.

Toledo not having Finn factored into Staples’ decision to go with Wyoming.

“This is an interesting one, because Dequan Finn, who was probably the best offensive player in the MAC, is gone. He’s going to Baylor. So Tucker Gleason will be your starting quarterback for the Rockets,” Staples said. “Meanwhile, Wyoming still has Andrew Peasley, and if you have not watched Andrew Peasley play football, he is a lot of fun.”

This will be the last game for Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl. Staples expects Wyoming to send him out on a high note.

“I am going to take Wyoming against my better judgment,” Staples said. “Andrew Peasley, got a wife and a kid to go home to. This is his last college game. Don’t know if there’s going to be an NFL career in his future. Would love to see him in Canadian football. … CFL feels real perfect for him. Give me the Cowboys.”

Russo has the game going a little differently. Even though Toledo won’t have Finn, Russo believes that overall the Rockets still have the better team.

“I’m going to take the points and Toledo in this game, because I’m just going to default back to I think that’s the better team, even though I don’t know exactly what form I’m getting,” Russo said. “But if I can get points with the team that I think is the better team, I will go grab that.”

While Russo believes Toledo has the better team, he is looking forward to watching Wyoming quarterback Andrew Peasley.

The senior has passed for 1,823 yards and 20 touchdowns, with another 403 rushing yards and seven scores.

“He’s a wing it and sling it and run around kind of guy. Efficiency is not really his game, if you’re looking for a high-level efficiency quarterback,” Russo said. “But he is definitely a Wyoming type of quarterback. He makes the plays when they need to be made, however they need to be made.”
