Isaiah Robinson brought the fireworks on this Independence Day.

The four-star offensive tackle from Arlington (Texas) Lamar and one of the nation’s best at the position in the 2023 cycle committed to Baylor on Monday — bolstering the Big 12’s second-rated class that was already sitting inside the top-20 national rankings entering the week.

Robinson, the On3 Consensus’ No. 16-rated offensive tackle, chose the in-state Bears over the likes of LSU and ultimately California after official visits to both Berkley and Waco in June. From Dave Aranda to offensive line coach Eric Mateos on down, the Baylor staff made the strongest impression on not only Robinson but his family.

“In the end, Baylor just felt most like home,” Robinson told On3. “My family and I have a great relationship with Coach Mateos and Coach Aranda. The city of Waco is definitely my speed as well. It’s not too fast and it’s not too slow.”

“Honestly, I don’t know what they did, but it obviously worked,” Robinson continued. “Coach Mateos is a great person. He’s more focused on being a teacher and mentor than a coach and I really like that about him. He’s definitely someone I’ll enjoy playing for.”

Robinson joins fellow blue-chippers in Dave Aranda’s 2023 recruiting class, including in-state four-stars Austin Novosad (QB), TayShawn Wilson (DB) and Christian Brathwaite (LB). He is the No. 193 player in America regardless of position according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
