Texas A&M continues their rapid run of success as they approaching signing day. Four-star Haslet (Texas) Eaton tight Jaden Platt has announced his commitment to the Texas A&M Aggies. Platt is ranked as the No. 12 tight end in the class of 2023.

With his decision, Platt flips his commitment from Stanford. Florida was also in the race till the end, finishing in second behind the Aggies.

Platt has been committed to Stanford since Dec. 16, 2021, but after coaching changes and an uncertain future, Platt looked elsewhere. Texas A&M, a factor earlier in his recruitment, re-emerged as a contender. After a weekend official visit with the whole family in attendance, Jimbo Fisher and his staff reel in one the nation’s top tight ends.

Measuring in at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, Platt checks in as the No. 12 tight end in the country. He is also the No. 218 player overall. That is all according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

While Platt’s career statistics are not eye popping, his film shows the ability to not only catch the ball but stretch the field when he does so. Platt is 4.7-4.8 guy with the ability to get faster and has good vision with the ability to make defenders miss.

Maxpreps reports Platt as having 824 receiving yards on 47 receptions with eight touchdowns. Platt is also a willing blocker and shows an ability to put defenders in the dirt, whether it be chipping down on an end or solo blocking at the next level of the defense.

Most of his routes are up the seam or leaking out into an uncovered zone, taking what the defense will give him. Platt joining Texas A&M gives the Aggies an elite young group of tight ends including Donovan Green, Jake Johnson, and Theo Melin Ohrstrom.
