Duncanville (Texas) High four-star offensive tackle Cameron Williams tells On3 he has decommitted from Oregon. Ever since Mario Cristobal left Oregon to become the head coach at Miami, this move was expected from the 6-foot-5, 390-pound prospect.

Willams sent the following statement regarding his decommitment to On3:

First and foremost, I would like to thank Coach Cristobal and Mirabal and the rest of the coaching staff at Oregon for believing in me and offering me a scholarship. After some thinking and a long discussion with my family it would be in my best interest to reopen my recruitment at this time. With that being said I’ve decided to decommitt from the University of Oregon. I wish nothing but the best for the program in the future.

Williams is the fourth 2022 recruit to back off their Oregon pledge since the news of Cristobal leaving broke.

Oregon is now down to 15 commitments in the 2022 class.

What is next for Cameron Williams?

On3 National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton reported on Tuesday that a few in-state programs are likely to be under consideration by Williams next.

“Texas and Texas A&M were considered the two main schools,” Hamilton wrote. “Since that time, TCU has offered.”

Hamilton also reported that Williams is not expected to follow Cristobal to Miami, despite the fact the Lone Star State standout took an official visit to see the Hurricanes under the previous regime in the summer.

Williams has already used all five of his official visits.

Cameron Williams Scouting Summary

On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power gave the following scouting summary for Williams:

One of the biggest offensive linemen in the 2022 cycle. Absolutely massive offensive tackle who measured in at 6-foot-5, 391 pounds prior to his senior season. Does not register as a top athlete in the combine setting but shows encouraging body quickness as his size. Works at right tackle for one of the top high school programs in Texas. Very powerful and easily generates a push in the run game. His width makes it difficult for opposing defensive ends to run around him in pass rush situations. Has a high upside due to his unique physical dimensions but will likely need some time in a college strength and conditioning program.

The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average, currently ranks Williams as the nation’s No. 391 overall prospect, the No. 22 offensive tackle, and the No. 57 player in the state of Texas for 2022.
