Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School three-star wide receiver Channing Goodwin announced his top seven schools on April 26. They are Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Virginia.

Goodwin will choose from one of those programs soon, as he is committing on May 7 at 4pm ET. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound wideout has visited many of his finalists, and most recently the Wolverines on March 11.

“Relationships are huge for me, so taking visits are very important,” Goodwin told On3’s Chad Simmons on Sept. 1.

Goodwin is the No. 434 overall prospect and No. 77 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 14 player in North Carolina.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan has a commanding lead for his commitment at 97.3%.

Four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis, a top-30 recruit and Goodwin’s high school teammate, chose the Wolverines on March 31. Additionally, Goodwin’s father suited up for the maize-and-blue. Jonathan Goodwin played in Ann Arbor from 1998 to 2001 before playing 13 seasons in the NFL.

“There are a lot of great things about Michigan,” Goodwin told The Wolverine on Feb. 24. “I’m very familiar with it. I’ve been out there a couple of times. I just love the culture that they have and what they are building up there.”

“Coach (Ron) Bellamy and I have a lot of communication,” he added. “A lot of it is more small talk, but we also talk ball sometimes. He’s just been trying to get me back on campus as soon as possible. That’s mostly it. We have a great relationship.”

Another school to host Goodwin this year is NC State. He saw the Wolfpack on Jan. 21 before going to North Carolina.

Goodwin told The Wolfpacker on Jan. 30 that he has a good connection with wide receivers coach Joker Phillips.

“I’m basically right up the street,” Goodwin said. “I drove up here today, so that’s definitely a huge plus. And then, I’ve been there a couple times now, and every time it just gets better and better I feel like, and it feels like a place that could just be home. They’ve been recruiting me for a little over a year now, so I definitely know coach Joker and the whole staff pretty well at this point.”
