It’s been a good few months for Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College receiver Malik Benson.

First, on the football field, Malik Benson shattered records for Hutch C.C. — one of the top junior college programs in the country — as a freshman. Benson became the school’s single-season record holder for receiving yards with more than 1,2200 yards.

He also had 198 yards receiving in the Salt Lake Bowl, which was the third-highest single-game total for the Blue Dragons. He was named the bowl offensive most valuable player for that performance. Benson now holds the third, fourth, fifth, and eighth-best totals for single-game receiving yards by a Hutch C.C. player.

He’s also an elite track athlete, running sprints and field events like the long jump. He owns a 10.44-second time in the 100-meter dash, which is trucking for a 6-foot-1, 170-pound athlete. He also has a 25-foot, 2-inch-long jump.

Malik Benson has added 8 new offers

Malik Benson entered January with offers from South Dakota and Texas Tech. But he’s absolutely blown up on the recruiting since.

Since Jan. 13, Benson has added offers from Missouri, UAB, South Alabama, Kansas State, Baylor, Iowa State and Houston. He was also offered on Monday by the Kansas Jayhawks.

The offers from K-State and KU are expected to carry some weight for Malik Benson. That’s true because he is originally from Lansing, Kan., which isn’t too far away from Lawrence and right in the heart of the Wildcats’ recruiting territory.

But the coaches at Hutch C.C. believe that Malik Benson’s stock is so red-hot that more national programs are going to come knocking on their door in March and throughout the rest of the recruiting process.

The coaches at Hutch are right, especially when they see him run away from defenders as he does so often in film clips like this.
