Curtis Givens is the No. 31 player in the 2024 On3 150. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 16.7 points on a 48.8 percent effective field goal percentage for his MoKan Elite team on Nike’s EYBL 16u Circuit this summer.

“I let the game come to me,” Givens told On3. “I am a poised player who tries to get my teammates involved and take what the defense gives me. Playing with all this talent at Montverde has helped me see the game and distribute it better. I’ve always been able to score, but here I’m, becoming a point guard. Coach Kevin Boyle wants me to model my game after Andrew Nembhard, so I watch a lot of him.”

The native of Memphis transferred to Montverde (FL) Academy this summer to play on the NIBC Circuit. On3 caught up with Curtis Givens after a recent live viewing to talk about visits and get an update on his recruitment.

“I haven’t taken any official visits yet,” Givens said. “I’ve taken unofficial visits to Ole Miss and Tennessee. I’m talking with LSU about setting up an official visit

Givens talks recruitment

Ole Miss: “They like to play really fast. I went to a practice while I was there, and the entire time, they were on one hundred.”

Tennessee: “They really let their guards rock. In transition, their bigs run the floor, and their guard’s job is to initiate the offense.”

LSU: “I talk with them every week. They have three of their coaches, Coach (Matt) McMahan, Coach (Ronnie) Hamilton, and Coach (Cody) Toppert, all in touch with me. They talk highly about me and how much they love my game, so I really like that about them.”

“I’ve been hearing a good big from Kansas lately,” Givens said. “They haven’t offered yet, but I’m interested in them.”

In Givens’ words

“The atmosphere is going to be big for me,” Givens said. “The culture of the school will be what I’m looking at on these visits. When I’m looking at a college, I’m looking for a place that will give their guards some freedom to make plays.”
