Darrion Sutton entered the 2024 On3 150 at No. 99 in the most recent update. His size, length, and positional versatility simply became too much to ignore. The 6-foot-7 late-blooming wing played last season at Denver (CO) Accelerated Way and has seen his offer sheet jump from six to almost 25 15 offers since late April.

“I’m a playmaker,” Sutton told On3. “I can score the ball, and I like to make everyone better. I’m getting comfortable with my game. My confidence has really picked up over the last few months. I’m seeing the floor better.”

On3 caught up with four-star Darrion Sutton after a recent live viewing to talk about his recruitment.

Sutton talks visits

“It’s been a lot of schools getting involved, really,” Sutton said. “I’m setting up official visits right now with Creighton and Michigan.”

Creighton: “It’s the coaches for me. I really like the coaches. They had a great season, won a lot of games, and they get to the tournament pretty regularly. They like wings like me, versatile guys who can kind of do everything on the floor. That is definitely my game, how I play.”

Michigan: “My relationship is good with Juwan (Howard). I really like him, he’s a great dude. They really like versatility, guys who can do multiple things on the floor, not just be stuck doing one thing. They tell me that wings like me fit perfectly with how they play.”

Kansas, Texas, Oregon, and Florida State have all just talking to me,” Sutton said. “My most recent offers are from Ohio State, Penn State, and Butler.”

In Sutton’s words

“I don’t really have a time frame right now,” Sutton said. “I’m still trying to figure everything out, to be honest. Right now, I don’t plan on signing early and will probably stretch it out, but again, I’m not sure exactly yet.

“I grew up in St. Louis. I watch a lot of Kevin Durant, that’s my favorite player. He’s my size; he’s long, can shoot the ball, and can handle it. I’ll be looking for a place I’m comfortable at. And the coaches, you got to be in line with the coaches.

“I want to go somewhere that will give me the freedom to play my game. Have the ball in my hands and be able to create for the team.”
