Kirk Herbstreit is going to be busy this fall with Thursday Night Football and College GameDay. A new report shed light on how much he could making with his new job at Amazon.

Herbstreit could make “eight figures” while working alongside Al Michaels at Amazon, according to the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand. He’ll continue his work for ESPN on College GameDay and calling games alongside Chris Fowler on Saturdays. His contract has two years remaining, according to Marchand.

Marchand’s report came in the same story he confirmed Michaels is signing a huge contract to do play-by-play alongside Herbstreit at Amazon. Michaels, the legendary play-by-play announcer, spent the last 16 years at NBC before the network opted to let his contract expire. NBC is promoting Mike Tirico to Sunday Night Football play-by-play alongside Cris Collinsworth starting with the 2022 NFL season.

The NFL announcer carousel became a story of an equally crazy offseason. Most notably, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are leaving FOX for ESPN to call Monday Night Football. FOX hasn’t announced replacements for Buck and Aikman yet, but Marchand reported Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen could be contenders. In fact, he said the “growing expectation” is Burkhardt will replace Buck.

Report: Al Michaels inks mega-deal with Amazon, Thursday Night Football

The mega-deals continue for NFL broadcasters. According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Amazon is signing legendary NFL play-by-play broadcaster Al Michaels to a huge deal to join ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit in its coverage of Thursday Night Football.

Moreover, Marchand also wrote that Michaels’ contract is for three years. Over that time, he’ll earn a similar amount the new voice of ESPN’s Monday Night Football — Joe Buck — will make.

“Michaels is expected to sign the contract shortly after months and months of negotiations. Michaels will be paid near the Joe Buck neighborhood, according to sources,” revealed Marchand. “Buck signed a five-year, $75 million deal with ESPN to join his longtime partner at Fox, Troy Aikman, on ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Football.’

Marchand added that Michaels waited to sign his Amazon deal to see if ESPN or FOX were going to become suitors.

“Michaels has waited to agree to the contract with Amazon to see if ESPN or Fox would become options,” wrote Marchand. “ESPN would have tried to team Michaels with Aikman if Fox declined to let Buck out of his contract. After Buck left, Michaels and his representatives reached out to Fox to see if it would want him, according to sources, but Fox, with two of the next three Super Bowls, has been inclined to go with Kevin Burkhardt.”
