Norcross (Ga.) Buford four-star EDGE Dre Quinn was originally set to commit on Tuesday, but decided he needed more time. Ultimately though, it won’t be long.

On the day he was supposed to announce, Quinn instead told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he is officially down to two schools: Clemson and Texas. And a commitment is set for Thursday, June 17.

He was scheduled to visit Notre Dame this weekend as the Fighting Irish made a late push for him. But they, along Georgia and Tennessee, are now on the outside looking in. Instead it’ll be a battle between the two schools to host him most recently for official visits.

And heading into the decision, it’s the Longhorns trending. On Tuesday morning, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons placed an expert prediction in favor of Texas to land the four-star pass rusher. Quinn’s trip to Texas exceeded every expectation and has put UT in the driver’s seat.

“The visit was special,” he told Simmons over the weekend. “Texas is definitely high on my list. Every time I’m there, it feels more like a place I could see myself. This visit showed me even more of what they’re about and it made an impact.

… The highlights were sitting down with coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian), coach Clarke, and Coach PK (Pete Kwiatkowski) to see how they plan to develop me. Being around the staff and in the culture were big highlights. You can feel how serious they are about winning and building men, not just players.”

Quinn is the No. 274 overall prospect and No. 30 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 31 player in Georgia.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder, who transferred to Buford for his senior season, racked up 42 tackles, including 9.5 TFLs, and 2.5 sacks as a junior at Norcross (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian.
