If you’re a college football fan, then you’ve probably seen College GameDay – at least once or twice. ESPN’s pregame show that travels around the country to start off each and every college football Saturday has become must-watch television over the years, and the show just continues to get better season after season.

As Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Lee Corso, David Pollack and other ESPN analysts are all part of the College GameDay crew, they’re committed to telling the stories that shape college football and are a go-to group for all college football news on Saturdays. That’s what the show is known for – and it’s not going to change anytime soon.

Entering yet another season on College GameDay, Herbstreit – who’s pretty much been established as the voice of ESPN’s college football coverage – joined The Pat McAfee Show and revealed his future plans with the show and shared how excited he is for the upcoming college football season.

“Honestly, we’re excited for this season,” Herbstreit told McAfee. “College football – as much chaos as there is off the field, I don’t know if the game itself or the brand itself has ever been better. Think about last season. We finally had fans back after missing them in ’20. The excitement, the energy and the passion is there every single week. Like, from Week 1 you’re thinking, ‘Man, that was great.’ Then, the next week it’s even better.

“So, we were lucky as a sport that we had so much juice every single week and GameDay is right in the middle of it, obviously, every week. We hope to continue to do that, man.”

Herbstreit: College GameDay ‘never gets old’

Kirk Herbstreit has been a key part of ESPN’s College GameDay for quite some time. When the show comes on TV on Saturday mornings, he’s one of the first faces you see and one of the first voices you hear.

During his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Herbstreit expressed just how much College GameDay means to him.

“Lee Corso, I want to say he’ll be 87 years old [next season] – I believe. His birthday is August 7,” Herbstreit said of his longtime friend and colleague. “What’s great about college GameDay, and it’ll be 27 years next year for me, is it never gets old. Like, the stories constantly change. Players are constantly moving – and now with the portal they’re leaving and going to different schools. So, it’s not like you’re covering the same story over and over and over. For me, I love that. I love how it changes.

“The one thing that remains the same is the passion is there every single week – no matter where you go. I don’t take that for granted at all covering that sport.”
