ESPN updates power rankings after final week of regular season
ESPN has updated their power rankings after the final week of the regular season. Some teams have done all they can to receive their ranking, while others have played their way into a chance at a conference championship.
One of those teams is the Michigan Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh and company finally defeated the bully in Ohio State. Now, destiny awaits Michigan — if they can defeat Iowa in the Big Ten title game, a spot in the College Football Playoff is theirs.
Moreover, Alabama survived the Iron Bowl — the first iteration to ever go to overtime. While Auburn gave the Crimson Tide all they could handle, Nick Saban’s squad showed their mettle — coming out with the victory, and preserving their Playoff hopes.
Furthermore, the wild rivalries didn’t stop with the Iron Bowl. Later in the night, Bedlam was one of the most intense games of the week. Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State Cowboys managed to upend the Oklahoma Sooners, the program’s first rivalry-week win since 2014. In the process, Gundy’s Cowboys moved up to No. 5 in the ESPN power rankings, and they will make a compelling case come College Football Playoff time.
It’s finally championship season in college football, and it’s finally time to figure out what teams stand above the rest. After an upset-filled finale of the regular season, another week of upsets would send the College Football Playoff committee into a frenzy. Here’s the current ESPN power rankings.
