Austin, Texas – On3 Consensus 5-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo made a first ever visits to a quartet of Big 12 and SEC schools this week.

The No. 4-ranked prospect overall in the On3 Consensus for the 2024 cycle spent Saturday at Texas after visits to Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Baylor.

“Texas was a great experience,” Wingo told On3. ” I got to go around the campus. I play with a 7v7 team from Texas called FAST Houston. I had been to Houston before, but this was my first time at Texas. My tour person took me to the Hall of Fame and see all the Heisman Trophies, trophies and history of Texas. The highlight was definitely seeing the Hall of Fame and history.”

The 6-foot-2, 198-pounder was accompanied on the trip by his father and uncle. The Wingo family sat down with wide receivers coach Brennan Marion to get a feel for his coaching style.

“I met with the wide receivers coach. He showed me how he developed his guys. How he helped develop Jordan Addison from a guy with 666 yards receiving to almost 1,600 in a year. He showed how his routes translate to NFL routes.”

Oklahoma was time spent with Brent Venables and Jeff Lebby

Wingo’s first stop on the week of visits was Norman Tuesday to take a first look at the Oklahoma Sooners.

“It was a fun visit. I got to talk to Coach (Brent) Venables. It was a good message on Oklahoma football and spirituality. I got to see the Heisman’s and stuff like that. It a was cool visit overall.”

One-on-one time with Sooners offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby was the highlight.

“Coach Lebby showed me a video of how he utilizes a player of my similar height, weight and speed. He showed me how he got them the ball in the open field, in position to get up field and score.”

Texas A&M’s facilities and history stood out

Wingo headed to College Station after Norman for a first look at Texas A&M Thursday.

“Texas A&M was great visit also. It was a lot of fun. I learned that the facility is huge. They are getting more new facilities too. I didn’t know they had that many first round picks, and Heisman winners.”

Jimbo Fisher’s message was centered around Texas A&M football.

“Coach Fisher was just talking about the same things as Oklahoma. What Texas A&M is about as a football program. The history and the future.”

A trip to Baylor followed Friday.

“Baylor was a good experience too. Getting to see a different city in Texas. It was the smallest city I have been to in Texas. I have been to Houston and Dallas, and Austin. It was good to experience different sized cities.”

Wingo will be back on the road next week with unofficial visits to Notre Dame, Michigan and Michigan State.

Wingo is the younger brother of former Arkansas running back Ronnie Wingo Jr. Wingo’s father signed with Michigan State out of high school.
