2022 Texas A&M Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman signee Lebbeus Overton is set to return to College Station on Saturday for the Maroon & White Game alongside his family, just two weeks after his official visit and just one week after announcing his long-awaited commitment to the Aggies, his mother told On3’s Joseph Hastings.

Overton announced his commitment and signed to Texas A&M over Oregon, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma on Friday in a live ceremony on ESPN 2.

Overton’s commitment gave the Aggies nine five-star prospects and eight defensive linemen in the cycle. Overton’s older brother, Micaiah, a Liberty transfer, left Liberty with plans to team up with his brother at his next destination. Though he hasn’t announced his commitment just yet, the Aggies have offered the older Overton as a preferred walk-on and will likely add him to the class in the coming days. The older Overton is also expected in College Station for the Maroon & White Game.

Overton’s commitment further solidified Texas A&M’s No. 1 class in the 2022 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking as the top class ever by the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking with 30 total commits.

For the Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman, the opportunity to suit up for the Aggies is special. Overton was originally born in College Station, as his father Milton Overton, was the associate Athletic Director at Texas A&M from 1999 to 2009.

With his recruitment now behind him, Overton told Hastings he’s glad the process is over.

“It’s been crazy,” he told Hastings. “I never really would have known that I was going to be in this situation, in this predicament. Ever since those first couple offers like Georgia, when I got those offers like Alabama, it was just a crazy process. So just knowing how it is, now I’m finally glad it’s over.”

Overton, who reclassified from the 2023 class to the 2022 class earlier this year, was considered the top overall recruit in the 2023 class prior to reclassifying. The 6-foot-3, 269lb defensive lineman now ranks as the No. 10 prospect and No. 3 defensive lineman nationally in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also one of eight Five-Star Plus+ prospects in the class.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $35k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
