Elite EDGE Luke Wafle visits and lands offer from Florida Gators

Middletown (N.J.) Hun School four-star EDGE Luke Wafle has seen his recruitment explode and is now getting a closer look at some of the top schools in the nation this spring. His latest stop came this week as he checked out Florida.
After finishing the 2025 cycle with some serious momentum, head coach Billy Napier and the Gators are looking for a much smoother run of recruiting wins in 2026. Looking to get some top blue-chippers in the fold, UF has its sights set on many of the nation’s best, including Wafle.
The staunch 6-foot-5.5, 245-pounder got to spend time around Napier and UF on Tuesday and left with an offer:
Wafle has been busy on the road and it’ll stay that way in April. North Carolina, Ohio State, Tennessee, Miami and now UF have had him on campus this spring. Trips to Nebraska, Oklahoma, USC, Texas and Penn State are also on the docket.
His stock has continued to rise ahead of his senior season. Now the No. 19 overall prospect in the On300, Wafle also checks in as the No. 8 EDGE and No. 59 recruit in the cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
As a junior for Hun, a top-10 program in New Jersey, Wafle racked up 53 total tackles and eight sacks in nine games, per MaxPreps.

“He is as first-off-the-bus in this class from a physical standpoint,” On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong said of Wafle last month.
Gators have three commits in 2026 thus far
Last month, Florida landed a commitment from Leesburg (Fla.) Tavares four-star linebacker Izayia Williams, On3’s No. 12 recruit and top-ranked LB.
A former Louisville, Syracuse and Florida State commit, Williams now looks to be locked in with the Gators and is a key piece to their 2026 pledge list. He’s one of three commits in the mix to date.
Tampa Jesuit four-star quarterback Will Griffin committed 10 months ago last summer and is now the No. 15 signal-caller in the cycle. Winter Garden (Fla.) First Academy three-star safety Devin Jackson remains pledged despite the change in secondary coaches in The Swamp this offseason.
“I’m going to recruit the best class possible and we’re going to bring another National Championship to Gator nation,” Griffin told On3 following his commitment.
Early on, the trio of commits form the nation’s No. 14 class, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
