Former Yale star Clay Patterson has committed to Stanford, he announced Friday on Twitter.

Patterson is heading to play for the Cardinal after spending the spring at UNLV. He announced last month that he was entering the transfer portal.

“I’ve entered my name into the spring transfer portal. I appreciate the staff at UNLV for the opportunity and look forward to finding my home for the next season,” Clay Patterson posted on Twitter last month.

He now has his home for next season as he will play at Stanford under Troy Taylor.

Patterson recorded 40 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss last season, helping the Bulldogs to a 7-3 record. He was named first-team All-Ivy league last season.

A year prior, Patterson was named second-team All-Ivy League in 2022 after finishing second in the league with 6.5 sacks in 10 games. He was named first-team all-conference and a third-team All-American in 2021 after recording 11.5 sacks.

In the two previous years, he saw action in two games in 2019, before the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID.

It has been an eventful past few months for Patterson, who announced last November that he was entering the transfer portal.

“I would like to thank my family, teammates, coaches and Yale for what has been an amazing four years,” Clay Patterson said at the time. “After exhausting my eligibility at Yale, I have officially entered the transfer portal. I am a December graduate with one year of eligibility left. Excited for what’s next!”

Patterson committed to Illinois in December, before decommitting not long after. He eventually ended up at UNLV for the spring. However, he is now on the move once again.

Stanford Cardinal LB Kiersten Lee entered NCAA transfer portal

While Stanford is adding Clay Patterson from the portal, the Cardinal have also lost some players to the portal this spring.

One of those is linebacker Kiersten Lee, who entered the portal late last month.

Lee played his high school football across the country at Marietta High School in Marietta, GA. There, he would become a three-star recruit with a 79.8 rating. Lee was the No. 2164 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle and was ranked 227 among linebackers and 205 in terms of players coming out of the state of Georgia, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

During his time at Stanford, Lee has failed to record any stats, something that he is likely looking to change with his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
