Niceville (Fla.) four-star athlete Azareyeh Thomas has trimmed his list down to a final three. Florida, Georgia Tech and LSU remain in the race with a decision is likely coming next month.

“It was pretty hard to get it down to three schools,” said Thomas. “I have taken the needed visits, I have thought about it a lot and it is the right time to do this.

“I am looking to commit in August and I want to visit each of the schools one more time in the next week, then try to make a decision.”

The 6-foot-1, 177-pound senior feels each school has a lot of what he is looking for.

“I visited each school and I saw a lot I liked. Each school can benefit me on and off the field. I like the football program at each school and the academics are strong. I see each school could be a good fit for me.”

The Finalists

Florida: “I like how Florida is close to home and I know they really want me. The coaches are genuine and I get a great feeling from them. I love the fan base too.”

Georgia Tech: “With my brother (Juanyah Thomas) going to Georgia Tech, I have been there a lot. I have gotten to know the coaches really well and they make me feel very comfortable. The strong relationships I have with the coaches and the degree I could get make Georgia Tech stand out.”

LSU: “Coach [Corey] Raymond really impressed me on my visit to LSU. I watched film with him, I learned about his coaching style and he stood out to me. I know he could help develop me and help me get to the NFL. He has coached a lot of players up.”

Upcoming Decision

There is a scheduled unofficial visit to Florida for Friday Night Lights later this week. Thomas is hoping to visit Georgia Tech and LSU this week as well.

“I do not have a date yet, but I should be ready to commit in August,” said Thomas. “If I can visit each school one more time to get that reassurance I need heading into the decision, that would be good. I feel good about all three schools and I know I still have a lot to think about.”

Will Thomas stay home or leave? It is a big decision.

“It is going to be very, very hard to pick one school. I will go off relationships, where I feel I can make a big impact at and that gut feeling. I know I can pray on it and God will lead me.”

Being the versatile athlete that he is, Thomas was recruited to play multiple positions by different schools. All three finalists are recruiting him to play cornerback.
