Four-Star EDGE Zahir Mathis commits to Ohio State

Four-star EDGE Zahir Mathis of Philadelphia (PA) Imhotep Institute announced his commitment to Ohio State Wednesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-5, 230 pounder chose the Buckeyes over South Carolina, Tennessee, and others.

“Based on the relationship I have with Coach J, as it is to me an honor to be developed by a legendary coach.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“The relationship I have with Coach J, Coach Al, Coach Murp, and Coach Day,” Mathis said. “The love from Ohio’s coaching staff is respectable and by me being welcomed to the family is amazing.”

The Keystone State EDGE joins coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes’ top 3 2025 class. He is accompanied by five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez, four-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair, and others.

Zahir Mathis Recruiting Profile 

Mathis ranks as the No. 55 player according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 7 EDGE and the No. 1 player in the state of Pennsylvania.
