Four-Star SF Tylis Jordan recaps recent visits and talks recruitment
The recruitment process is just beginning for four-star small forward Tylis Jordan of Shiloh (GA) High School. The 6-foot-8 junior has become a top priority for programs in and around the southeastern United States. The talented wing from Louisville, Georgia has already been on six college visits, each of them unofficially.
Jordan recapped each of those trips with On3, speaking in-depth on each one while also outlining what he’s looking for in a college program.
Tylis Jordan recaps college visits
Alabama: “I definitely had a good time down there. Great atmosphere. Just watching their practice and talking with coach (Nate) Oats, coach (Preston) Murphy, coach (Ryan) Pannone. Just to get to see how they use players in my position like Grant Nelson and their other forwards. I really like how they kind of run their offense through them. They got big wings who can make plays. So its kind of free basketball.”
Auburn: “Actually being there at a basketball game, sitting in the jungle was wild, crazy. Especially because they played Alabama. So it was a great atmosphere, crazy game. I remember a lot of high pick-and-rolls. Auburn likes their small guards running their high pick-and-rolls. Coach (Bruce) Pearl was just getting the whole crowd into the game, giving them their energy.”
Georgia Tech: “Just seeing how the coaches and players came in and responded to that loss against Cincinnati. Everyone was pretty much dialed in, ready to regroup, focused. Coach (Damon) Stoudamire played in the NBA and has been in NBA front offices so that kind of predicates his offense and defense. He has a guard and then two through five is a bunch of 6-7 to 6-10s that can switch off on everything.”
LSU: “I like what coach (Matt) McMahon is doing down there. Obvosuly when I visited there it was year one, but I like how I got to talk to each and every coach and seeing their plan. They’re slowly but surely building something over there with how they develop their players.”
Ole Miss: “I love what coach (Chris) Beard is doing for the program, turning them around. They’re currently undefeated right now. Just seeing them practice, it seems like he preaches family over there. Everything they do is on one sound, one movement, always together. A lot of the time he was telling them to make a basketball play. It’s not just if this person does that, then you have to do this. No, just be a basketball player. Guys have been playing basketball their whole lives.”
Tennessee: “That was also a really good visit. Got to watch them go up and down. Coach Barnes is like, you get the ball, then you need to make a move fast. He doesn’t really like just catching it, kind of like you don’t know what to do. If you’re going to be out there, you’re gonna be out there. You play basketball, you attack. They find their shooters really well and their shooters move around.”
Currently, Jordan says he hears the most from LSU, SMU, Cincinnati, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and Ole Miss.
What he’s looking for in a school
Tylis Jordan says he’s still a ways away from making a decision, but he does know what he’s looking for in a school.
“I really like up-tempo,” he says. “Get out free. I try not to play in sets a lot, even though sets are important. Sometimes you gotta play off the feel for it because when it gets deep in these games and playoffs, everyone knows what what you’re about to do.”
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Jordan ranks as the No. 79 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle. He’s also the No. 22 small forward and the No. 9 player in Georgia. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3’s evalautors are even higher on him, ranking him 46th nationally in the class.
