Four-star WR Kyle Parker commits to LSU

The decision is in for four-star Texas wide receiver Kyle Parker.

The playmaker from the Dallas Metroplex committed to LSU on Thursday. Parker was offered by the Tigers at the start of the month and had him back on campus for an official visit two weeks later. Parker’s father played his high school football in New Orleans and attended LSU.

Louisville, Texas and Oklahoma State were also in play for the playmaker out of Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy, but LSU surged at the right time and checked all the correct boxes.

“It came down to two reasons: the success of players at the wide receiver position at LSU and family,” Parker told On3. “All those schools are similar because they all have good coaches that I feel would help me improve, but family is very important to me and that is what put LSU over the top. Since I follow LSU, there were some things that I already knew. The most important things to me were the system being a good fit for my style of play and the most important thing was how I felt when I was around the coaching staff and on campus. It might have been quick, but they just did a really good job.”

On3 is higher on Parker than the rest of the industry. He is the No. 43-ranked wide receiver in the country.

The four-star worked out for first-year LSU receivers coach Cortez Hankton while in Baton Rouge on June 6. He officially visited a week later and had a decision in place before the end of the month. Parked indicated that everything fell into place at the right time.

“This month has definitely been hectic, but it was all worth it,” he said. “I met Coach Hankton this year when he came to Lovejoy and spoke on and off. I had a great workout and they offered me, and the next weekend we were back in Baton Rouge. He’s real cool and down to earth, and I look forward to learning from him and the rest of the offensive staff at LSU.

“My dad is an LSU alumni, so I grew up watching them all my life. When I was younger, I’d spend my summers in Louisiana with my grandparents and cousins. We were all close in age so all we did was play ball. The official visit to LSU was cool because my grandparents were able to come, too. That was important to this process because this was the one visit they could make.”

Family made the decision that much easier for Parker, the No. 102-rated receiver on the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
