Galveston, Texas – Ball High has produced too many college football prospects to name in a story. Having more than 15 graduates that have gone on to play in the NFL is an indication of the talent to come out of Ball High over the years.

After a tough 15 year stretch for the Ball High, the Tornadoes have gone 21-3 the last two seasons. Ball High’s run has been due in large part to a 2025 class that features several FBS prospects. That talented class is headlined by five-star Jonah Williams. The No. 12 ranked prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking spoke with On3 Thursday afternoon providing the latest on his recruitment.

On3 stopped by Galveston Ball High Thursday afternoon to take a look at the top prospects in the junior class.

Power 5 talent in the 2025 class

Williams is joined in the 2025 class at Ball High by a number of tall, big frame athletes at multiple positions.

On3 Industry Ranking 4-star defensive lineman Malcolm Simpson recorded five sacks in 2023 in seven games. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder is a natural strong and explosive defensive line prospect with a high ceiling. Simpson currently has nine offers with Texas A&M being the latest January 10.

“I’m not going to lie, that offer was big seeing as Mike Evans went to A&M,” Simpson said Thursday. “That shows everyone that I’m doing good. Coach (Sean) Spencer offered me. He said he’s the new D-line coach at A&M and that he was offering me.”

Simpson didn’t have any Junior Day visit plans as of Thursday afternoon.

Wide receiver London Deyon is another future FBS player in the junior class. The 6-foot-5, 190-pounder with a large catch radius is up to four offers with one Junior Day visit scheduled.

“Colorado State, Boise State, Texas Tech and UIW have offered,” Deyon said Thursday. “And I’m going to UNLV for a visit February 3rd. Everybody is recruiting me as wide receiver or tight end.”

Deyon hauled in 24 passes for 407 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior.

Phoenix Pope is another 2025 prospect to know. He’s a 6-foot-4, 200-pound EDGE/linebacker prospect that had a very productive 2023 season. He total 66 tackles, eight tackles for loss and two sacks as a junior.

Linebacker Saiaiki Jones is one more prospect in the junior class to know. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker has 75 tackles in the last two seasons for the Tors.

2026 quarterback receiving attention

Ball High had one of the most impactful transfers in the Houston area headed into the 2023 season. Quarterback Kyden Barker transferred in from the League City area 30 minutes north of Galveston, and became a difference maker. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder with a UNLV offer completed 102 of 163 passes for 2,062 yards with 30 touchdowns (7 interceptions) in 2023. Barker is being evaluated by a number of colleges, including Texas.

A second prospect in the sophomore class that is receiving attention is wide receiver Juwaan Woodbury. The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder with high-end ball skills caught 30 passes for 875 yards and 10 scores in 2023. He totaled over 1,100 all-purpose yards.
