After a slow start to the 2026 recruiting class, Georgia is humming right along after landing one of the nation’s top football prospects, regardless of position.

On Monday, five-star Nashville Christian (Tenn.) quarterback Jared Curtis re-committed to the Bulldogs, handing Kirby Smart a massive victory on the trail. Curtis was pledged to UGA from March to October of 2024 before reopening things. He took numerous visits to a select group of schools since then, but ultimately ended up choosing between Georgia and Oregon.

It was the ‘Dawgs who won out, securing their first five-star in this cycle.

“Georgia speaks for itself,” Curtis previously told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “I’ve built a relationship with Coach Bobo and Coach Smart. I think they’re a powerhouse and they have great coaches all around. They have the players up there and they’re very disciplined.”

His addition also vaults the Bulldogs 10 spots in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, up from No. 17 to No. 7 nationally. On the way up, UGA passes some familiar SEC faces like Ole Miss, Auburn and Texas, but also jumps past the Ducks, who made a hellacious effort to get Curtis to play up in Eugene.

Curtis will be the linchpin for the rest of Georgia’s class

The Bulldogs already had seven commits coming into the day, including four-star wideouts Vance Spafford and Brady Marchese, along with blue-chip tight end Lincoln Keyes. Bringing Curtis into the fold is not only good news for them, but it gives Georgia a centerpiece to build the rest of its class around.

Smart and Co. have some massive targets still on the board as they’ll look to fill up the majority of their class this summer. None are bigger than No. 1 overall prospect and Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, who is set to commit a week from Tuesday on May 13.

Georgia is the leader eight days out, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), but is battling Oregon and Miami. Landing Cantwell would give the Bulldogs two of the top six players in the class, and they’re also strongly in the mix for Immanuel Iheanacho (No. 2), Tyler Atkinson (No. 8), Savion Hiter (No. 11), Kaiden Prothro (No. 29) and more.
