Columbia (S.C.) Ridge View High junior Gregory Jackson started his official visit to Duke this weekend. Jackson will attend the Duke. Syracuse game on Saturday and stay in Durham through Sunday.

Jackson is the On3 Consensus, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four major recruiting media services, No. 10 player in the 2023 class.

There were questions about whether this visit would happen with Durham, N.C. getting five-plus inches of snow overnight. “Yes sir, we in the house,” Jackson’s father confirmed to On3.

It has long been thought that Jackson’s recruitment is a three-team race. North Carolina and South Carolina have appeared to be ahead, along with Duke.

Jackson made his first official visit to North Carolina for its Late Night with Hubert Davis event in October. There was talk of Jackson visiting UNC for their game against Georgia Tech, a visit he did not make.

Jackson has been a mainstay on the South Carolina campus. However, he has not set an official visit with his hometown school yet. Jackson has attended three South Carolina games this season; he also camped at South Carolina twice this summer and visited the campus before the season.

Duke has piqued Jackson’s interest with how they use Paolo Banchero. “How they structure their offense around Paolo,” Jackson said. “I feel like my ability is similar to him.”

Georgetown, Virginia, and, more recently, Auburn are also in the mix, still fighting for position.

On3’s Scouting Report: Gregory Jackson

Gregory Jackson is a lengthy forward with a lot of pop. He has a tight handle with great balance that allows him to get to his spots in the half-court. Jackson is a shot creator and a shot-maker from three levels on the floor. He is a good weak-side shot-blocker and he uses his size and length as a rebounder. Jackson is just scratching the surface of his overall talent ceiling and as he continues to add weight, more growth could be in store.
