Even three weeks into the season, there is some big-name job open in college football. Nebraska has been gaining the most attention, with some of the top names being linked to the Cornhuskers. One has been three-time national championship head coach Urban Meyer, who would be considered a dream hire in Lincoln.

However, Meyer does not seem interested in returning to coaching at the moment, let alone the Nebraska job.

In an On3 exclusive of Urban’s Take with Tim May, Meyer revealed what his interest level was in returning to college football. Between working with Fox and spending time with his family, the former Florida, Ohio State, and Utah head coach said he’s happy being out of coaching.

“I’m really happy with Fox and really happy with the lifestyle right now,” Meyer said. “Flying in today to see grandkids. I’m happy with what I am doing.”

Meyer was last in college football during the 2018 season, working with the Buckeyes. His tenure in Colombus ended with a Rose Bowl win but more importantly, he won a national championship and three Big Ten titles. Ryan Day has since taken over the program and continued the excellence Meyer helped build.

However, there was a short period when Meyer tested the waters in the NFL. The Jacksonville Jaguars brought him out of retirement and were hoping to start a new era. Meyer lasted just 13 games at the next level, winning two games.

Meyer decided to return to the broadcasting world after a short time off and is working Big Noon Kickoff with Fox again. Being in Lincoln this past weekend, the Nebraska fans made sure the head coach knew who they wanted to take over their program. Constant “we want Urban” chants were coming from behind the stand.

If he ever does return to coaching college, Meyer will look to improve on his impressive 187-32 overall record. Along with his achievements with Ohio State, two national championships and SEC titles were added while at Florida. Most schools in the country would love to have him from a football perspective.

But for now, Meyer says he’s happy with how things are. Between working college football’s biggest game of the weekend and seeing the family as often as possible, Meyer doesn’t want anything to change.
