Hoophall West is one of the premier showcases in high school basketball. Teams from all over the country converge in Scottsdale, Arizona to compete against elite competition.

The three-day event hosted at Chaparral high school presented us with west coast programs such as Compass Prep (AZ), Perry (AZ), Notre Dame (CA), Rancho Christian (CA), Wasatch Academy (UT), Centennial (CA), Bishop Gorman (NV), San Ysidro (CA), Harvard-Westlake (CA), Coronado (NV), and others.

More talented teams from around the country, such as Cardinal Hayes (NY), Duncanville (TX), IMG Academy (FL), Gray Collegiate (SC), Long Island Lutheran (NY), Simeon (IL), and others.

Here are your standouts from the weekend.

Friday’s Standouts

Bryson Tucker / IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) / 6-7, 195 Small Forward / 2024

Bryson Tucker has a pure shooting stroke. The 6-6 wing knocked down multiple tough shots. He also used his craftiness to get to the rim. Tucker was the best player for IMG in this one. The five-star wing finished with a game-high 24 points on 57% from the field and 3-4 from three.

Godswill Eheriene / Long Island Lutheran (Glen Head, NY) / 6-9, 215 Power Forward / 2024

For starters, what an awesome name. The  6-foot-9 power forward has excellent hands. It’s very rare he misses a pass. He also finished well through contact as well and consistently played hard. Godswill was an impressive 8-11 from the field to finish with a team-high 18 points, while also adding 12 rebounds.

Mookie Cook / AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, AZ) / 6-7, 200 Small Forward / 2023 Oregon signee

The five-star Oregon signee was vital for AZ Compass. He was explosive in the open court and finished well in transition. Also, hit a tough mid-range turnaround off the dribble. Cook played with confidence and made intelligent decisions with the ball in his hands. He was also terrific defensively, locking up his opponent. Cook was 7-10 from the field and finished with a game-high 17 points, while also pulling in four steals.

Pharaoh Compton / AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, AZ) / 6-7, 235 Power Forward / 2024

The Rim Punisher. Compton has also been ferocious around the rim and dunks everything. He’s a big-bodied forward with long arms (7-foot-3 wingspan) and his motor is always on go. Pharaoh Compton (another great name) finished with 11 points and seven rebounds (5-6 from the field).

Marcus Allen / AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, AZ) / 6-6, 195 Small Forward / 2024

Marcus Allen is an intriguing player. He can switch one through four (maybe even the five on some teams) and can also defensively lock up the opponent’s best player. He’s just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential. He also might have the largest hands in high school basketball. Allen finished with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a block.

Koa Peat / Perry (Gilbert, AZ) / 6-7, 200 Forward / 2025

Wow. Koa Peat wins the Most Impressive Award from me. Only a sophomore, Peat is (extremely) physically imposing. He was able to do whatever he wanted and there was nothing anybody could do to stop him. His versatility and defensive presence is what stood out to me the most. He can get downhill, finish through contact and he’s an underrated passer. Even showed the ability to stretch the floor. Defensively, even if a quicker guard blew by him, and still recovered to get the block when it went up. The 15-year-old finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, five blocks, and a steal.

Cody Williams / Perry (Gilbert, AZ) / 6-7, 180 Wing / 2023 Colorado signee

Cody Williams really impressed me. The potential is now turning into production. He found his teammates very well (seven assists) and shot it well from the field (7-10). The upside is truly there. The game came easily for Williams.

Ian Jackson / Cardinal Hayes (Bronx, NY) / 6-5, 180 Shooting Guard / 2024

Ian Jackson did Ian Jackson things, despite the loss. His shot-making ability has been outstanding. It continues to prove he’s one of the top players in the country, regardless of class. Jackson finished with 23 points on 9-19 from the field and 4-9 from three.

Thursday’s Standouts

Kevin Patton Jr. / Rancho Christian (Temecula, CA) / 6-6, 190 Small Forward / 2023

Patton is a long wing that showed the ability to create his own shot. En route to a 30+ point win, the 6-6 uncommitted 2023 prospect showed why he’s a top-150 player nationally, finishing with 16 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and four blocks.

San Diego and Arizona State among the schools involved in his recruitment. A lot of upside with this one. Surprised to see the lack of programs involved.

His teammate, Rodney Brown, also played a strong game. The 6-foot-6 Cal signee finished with 14 points and an impressive seven assists.

Dusty Stromer / Notre Dame Prep (Sherman Oaks, CA) / 6-6, 180 Shooting Guard / 2023 Gonzaga signee

The future Zag shot the lights out, particularly in the first half. Stromer knocked down multiple triples, got to the rim easily, and found his teammates well. He finished with 24 first-half points. Stromer struggled in the second half, but it didn’t matter. Notre Dame got the win and he finished with 28.

Arman Madi / Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, AZ) / 6-6, 185 Small Forward / 2023 Northern Arizona signee

The Northern Arizona signee caught fire from the jump, knocking down three after three. Madi finished the game with a team-high 28 points.

Ian Jackson / Cardinal Hayes (Bronx, NY) / 6-5, 180 Shooting Guard / 2024

Ian Jackson was terrific. Maybe the most impressive part of his performance was his improved outside shot, particularly from three. The five-star junior guard also defended well, and got into passing lanes, leading to easy steals. He also used his wiggle to get to the rim and saw the floor well. Jackson finished with 23 points.

Ron Holland / Duncanville (Dallas, TX) / 6-8, 195 Power Forward / 2023 Texas signee

Ron Holland had a strong game. He was terrific in transition and finished above the rim with 22 points and the win over Cardinal Hayes. Also, he knocked down a pair of threes. The Texas signee also did well on the boards, finishing with 10 rebounds.
