Sitting at No. 147 in the 2024 On3 150 is Hudson Ward. The 6-foot-7 small forward out of Alberta (CAN) Western Canada Prep has started to become a hot topic among college coaches.

“I’m a two, three type of player,” Ward told On3. “I am bigger, but I can handle it really well, and my shooting has been very consistent this season. I’ve been working hard on my shot, so my three has really developed over the last few months. I’ve been getting more comfortable with my handle, getting downhill, too.”

The continued development for Ward has come with added confidence and a lot of hard work put in.

“I like to watch a lot of Jayson Tatum. The way he moves is very fluid, and how he gets into the shots he takes.”

Ward’s reputation kick-started with his play for the Canadian u17 basketball team at the 2022 FIBA World Cup. He played in 17.4 minutes per game over the seven-game stretch and shot 40 percent from three. This was his first time playing for his country.

“We were in Spain for the u17 World Cup, and we competed,” Ward said. “I think I played well; I got to see the competition at my age worldwide, so that was a great experience. I saw that I can hang, compete, and play with the top players in the world. Now I know what that is like, so next time, I think I can really show out against that level of competition.”

On the recruiting side, Hudson Ward is keeping his recruitment close to the vest. This ‘blow up’ has all happened within the last twelve months, so they are making sure they have their hands around everything, for now. While there is not much out there about Ward now, continue monitoring his name. Already in the 2024 On3 150, things are trending upward.
