Lakeland (Fla.) Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Cormani McClain, a current Miami commit, is at the center of a wild recruitment. According to Matt Shodell of CaneSport, Miami coaches showed up to meet with McClain at his high school on Friday, but the talented cornerback was not on campus to meet them.

That led to speculation McClain was taking a visit to another school this weekend, with Alabama or Colorado being the two must likely destinations.

Now, images have surfaced on Instagram Live of what appears to be McClain taking a visit to the Buffaloes.

It appears Cormani is wearing his traditional #7 uniform and a similar chain around his neck with a #7 medallion, similar to what he wore during Under Armour All-America media day on December 29. Defensive coordinator Charles Kelly is seen in the images as well.

Late Saturday night, a Twitter user screenshotted a video posted to the YouTube account of Well Off Media, a channel run by Deion Sanders Jr., that featured a thumbnail of Sanders and McClain together at CU’s Folsom Field with the title “This might be the biggest recruiting weekend so far for CU and Coach Prime.” However as of Sunday morning, the account had changed the thumbnail to a picture of Sanders standing next to what appears to be a projection of the original image of him and McClain on the wall next to him.

McClain originally committed to Miami on Oct. 27, which shocked many people at the time. The belief was Florida and Alabama were in better spots to land his pledge at the time. However, McClain did not sign with the program during the Early Signing Period and reports emerged that new Colorado head coach Deion Sanders got in contact with him.

A week later, McClain refused interviews at the Under Armour All-American game, only stating he would “sign January 15.” However, that date a prospect could only sign a financial aid agreement, which is non-binding.

On February 1, National Signing Day, McClain could then sign his National Letter of Intent, which binds him to the college of his choice on that date.

McClain is the No. 3 overall prospect and No. 1 cornerback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Florida.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $379K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
