Isaiah Collier is the No. 1 ranked point guard in the 2023 class and On3s No. 2 player in the 2023 On3 150.

Coming back from an injury after two months out, Collier was named the MVP of the Step Curry Elite Guard Camp and the UAA Next Elite 24 in August. Before his May injury, Collier played eight Nike EYBL Circuit games with The Skills Factory. The 6-foot-2 point guard averaged 15.1 points, 6.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals. He shot 44.8 percent from three on 3.6 attempts per game.

The five-star announced he would be signing on the final day of the early signing period. His final four schools are Michigan, Cincinnati, Southern California, and UCLA.

In Collier’s words

“I am going to look at the academics of each school; I want to finish school and get a degree and a master’s, hopefully,” Collier told On3. “I’ll look closely at the system of each school. I want to go to a place that will let me play and give me the freedom to do me. How much love they show, I am looking for a brotherhood, really, a family-type atmosphere.”

Collier’s game

As a point guard, there are so many pieces that stand out about Isaiah Collier. The first thing is his pace. While Collier has blow-by speed with a quick-twitch first step that he can generate in a phone booth, he does not get sped up. His vision is two and three steps ahead in dissecting a play, and he allows everything around him to unfold and create the perfect angle to deliver.

Collier is excellent in the pick and roll. He is a threat to pull up in the mid-range, attack the front of the rim, or deliver a pin-point pass, whether that be to the roll man or the open player on the weak side. Collier’s ability to pick apart a defense from the high pick and roll or side pick and roll is uncanny. He can get his team open shot after open shot.

The five-star can also run his team in the open court. He is great in transition, mixing speed and balance when attacking the basket. Collier has an array of euro-steps and side steps to create open angles at full speed. He can also find an open teammate or finish through contact.

The jump shot remains the question mark. The release is inconsistent, both with the follow-through and short arming, which can cause side rotation and flat arc at times. His balance and footwork are inconsistent at times too. Collier is a solid pull-up jump shooter, and he has an array of floaters and jump stops.

Collier excels in creating shot opportunities. He is a paint touch guard and on the short-list in the conversation of best passer in high school basketball. His ability to manipulate the ball and create angles to pass teammates open is unparalleled. Collier has a stocky frame which allows him to absorb contact in the paint.

By all accounts, he is a vocal leader who holds teammates accountable in practice. He also has the reputation as a hard worker.

On3s Recruiting Prediction Machine

As of this writing, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) gives Southern California a 93.4 percent chance of landing Isaiah Collier, the five-star point guard.

The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. Starting from the ground up, On3 built an entirely new product that utilizes data, human expertise, and machine learning.
