Las Vegas, Nevada – On3 Consensus 4-star small forward Jason Asemota has quickly become one of the most coveted prospects in the 2024 cycle.

The 6-foot-8 silky smooth shooter and scorer with NBA range has three programs standing out above the rest with visits up next this month.

One of the schools that will get Asemota on campus this month is Oregon. And that visit will carry special meaning.

“I always loved Oregon as a kid,” Asemota told On3 Sunday night. “They were my dream school as a kid. Growing up and dreaming about it, it’s just a blessing that Oregon wants me.”

Ducks head coach Dana Altman has a simple message for the rising junior.

“Keep having the mindset of being a pro, and keep progressing toward that.”

North Carolina will host Asemota June 17

Asemota will leave Pangos All-American Camp with 17 offers to date. The 18th may well be from North Carolina in two weeks.

“North Carolina hasn’t officially offered me yet, but they are heavily interested. I’m going on campus there on the 17th. When I get on campus, hopefully they will officially offer me. I’m excited to get out there and see what they are all about.”

Asemota sees a natural fit at North Carolina.

“They love to shoot the ball, and I love to shoot the ball. And get up and down. I feel like I fit that style very well.”

Tar Heels assistant coach Sean May is building a strong relationship with Asemota with a message about continued development.

“He tells me to just keep playing and developing since I’m a ’24. Just keep progressing with who I am. Don’t rush it.”

Baylor visit blew Asemota away

The last campus the No. 5-ranked prospect in the 2024 On3 Top 25 for 2024 was on was Baylor in May. The Bears officially offered May 18 during the visit.

“I went to Baylor last month. I loved it. I truly loved the environment, and I just hope we can have a very strong connection down the road.”

Bears head coach Scott Drew relayed a similar message as others.

“He said that I have to keep playing my game and keep staying the course. To keep being me, and the best will come.”

Asemota’s early offer list includes Kansas, Texas Tech, Memphis, Illinois, Ohio State, Auburn and TCU.

On3’s take

Jason Asemota is trending as one of the top prospects in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-8 wing has beautiful form on his jump shot with a smooth release and confidence off the catch or the bounce. Asemota has improved putting the ball on the floor, and while he can still get into some off-balanced shots, the confidence is improving. He is a good athlete and can do some things in transition. Asemota has a good wing handle two and three dribbles. We would like to see him get things tighter in the half-court and with his reads. His on-court play suggests his recruitment should reach the highest level.
