2026 4-star RB Jaylen McGill commits to Rutgers

Spartanburg (S.C.) Mountain View Prep four-star running back Jaylen McGill has committed to Rutgers, he announced on Saturday afternoon.
He chose the Scarlet Knights while also holding Power Four offers from South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and others.
McGill is the No. 214 overall prospect and No. 19 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 3 player in South Carolina.
Last season for Mountain View Prep, McGill ran for over 1,600 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also caught 22 passes for nearly 400 yards and an additional seven scores.
He becomes commitment No. 3 for Greg Schiano and Co. this month. Harrisburg (Pa.) three-star wide receiver Elias Coke and Philadelphia Nuemann Goretti three-star athlete Wydeek Collier also pledged in January.

The 2026 class features four commits in total. Louisa (Va.) four-star WR Dyzier Carter is the top-ranked commit in the mix, checking in as the No. 140 overall recruit and No. 20 wideout in the cycle.

Last month, Schiano and the Knights inked the No. 30 class in the 2025 cycle, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Ranking No. 9 in the Big Ten, the class featured 27 signees.
Upper Marlboro (Md.) St. John’s four-star safety Tariq Hayer is the lone blue-chipper in the class. Hayer is one of three DBs headed to Piscataway, alongside Warner Robins (Ga.) Northside three-star cornerback Michael Clayton and Union (N.J.) three-star CB Renick Dorilas.
