Jerry Easter is the No. 25 ranked player in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. The 6-foot-3 point guard finished second in scoring (22.3 points per game) during Nike’s Peach Invitational Tournament during Peach Jam.

“I’m a fast-paced guard who looks to get everyone going,” Easter told On3. “I’ve been working hard on my body and conditioning a lot, and I’m seeing the benefits here. I watch a lot of Kyrie Irving, he’s my favorite player. He gets his team involved and controls the game. No one speeds him up, and he has a full offensive game. He can finish at the rim, he’s got great handles, and he has a good jump shot.”

On3 caught up with four-star Jerry Easter after a recent live viewing to get a recruitment update and talk about official visits.

Easter talks upcoming official visits

“I don’t have any official visits set up yet,” Easter said. “I’m probably going to start off taking officials to the closer schools. I want to take as many as I can before the high school season starts. So I might start off with like Ohio State, Michigan State, and Cincinnati, the schools closest to Ohio.”

Ohio State: “They have a good program, and I have a great relationship with them. My parents really like the school and the coaches too. The program is really nice. I like how they coach their guys. They have really high-level players. We just had a former player in my AAU program (All Ohio) go there, Devin Royal. He says he really likes the school and what they’re doing. I can’t wait to visit there.

“I’ve visited there unofficially. The facility there was off the chain. They have all the high-level stuff there. A facility that could prepare you to get to the pros. The coaches there are going to push you; I saw that in the practice. I like that, I want to go somewhere that is going to push me.”

Cincinnati: “They are close to home. They just added Tyler McKinley and Rayvon Griffith. They’re building a good program. I watched them play this year. They play fast-paced and give their guards a lot of freedom. I got a good relationship with those coaches, too; they have been calling a lot, getting to know me, my dad, and my coaches.

“They good a good coaching staff over there too. It’s good to have another good program that is growing like that in Ohio.”

Michigan State: “Coach (Tom) Izzo, man. I’ve been watching them for a really long time, since childhood really. I mean, I’ve been watching a lot of college basketball my whole life, but just for Coach Izzo to talk to me and recruit me, I mean, that’s just good. It’s not something I was expecting when I was younger, you know. Like I know I’ve put in the work and had some success, but he’s a big-time coach, a hall of famer.

“Getting a call from him to tell me to keep working and that they’re looking at me and recruiting me is just a blessing. They have a good program, and they’re close to him. I’m definitely going to take an official visit there soon.”

Easter talks West Coast schools

“I’ve been talking with UCLA and USC about official visits, too,” Easter said.

Southern California: “My dad has a relationship with Coach (Eric) Mobley; he’s known him from before. That’s a really nice school, and it is great weather out there. Also, a scholarship to go there is worth like half-a-million dollars. The academics are interesting out there. I do want to go somewhere I can get a good degree, for after basketball.”

UCLA: “They have a great program, and they develop high-level players every year. I like what they did with Tyger Campbell. And the weather out there. I’d have to adjust to the time difference, but they’re a really good program I want to go see more about.”

Jerry Easter continues to hear from more schools.

“I’ve heard from LSU, Kentucky, and Arkansas a little bit,” Easter said. “Those are the three schools, I would say, that we hear from but haven’t offered yet. Kansas too.”

At the end of the day…

“I don’t want to rush anything,” Jerry Easter said. “Right now, I’m looking at my development and looking forward to these last two years of high school.

“When I look for a school, one thing I’m going to look at is the other players that are going there. I do want to play with other top players. I want to go to a school that is going to treat me like home, so I want to have a good relationship with the coaches, so I’m going to look at that. A place where I feel safe and comfortable.

“I want to play for a coach that I know is going to push me. I want to go to a team that I know is going to play hard and a program that has high-level players where we all push each other. Development is going to be big; my main goal is to make it to the NBA. I’ll go somewhere I know can get me there.”
