Alabama came out with plenty of offense Saturday against Texas A&M, scoring 12 runs against the Aggies to win Game 2 of this weekend’s series. That outburst is reminiscent of another Crimson Tide program, one known for bringing plenty of offense against opponents.

Jim Schlossnagle caught those vibes, too.

“Crimson Tide put it on us,” Schlossnagle said. “Nick Saban running the score up over there.”

Alabama handled Texas A&M with ease in its 12-1 victory. It was quite a way to bounce back from an 11-5 loss to the Aggies Friday, and the two teams will square off in the rubber game on Sunday in Fayetteville.

The Crimson Tide kept Texas A&M to just one run on six hits and two walks in the seven-inning, run-rule victory. Schlossnagle noted he had some pitchers who hadn’t thrown in a while, and the game presented an opportunity to get them back on the mound.

Still, made sure to give credit where it was due.

“They beat us in every phase,” Schlossnagle said. “Just trying to get through the game. Once we get down a little bit, trying to get through the game with some guys that hadn’t pitched in a while. Give all the credit to Alabama. Got to be ready to go tomorrow.”

Andrew Pinckney, Garrett McMillan lead Alabama past Texas A&M in run-rule victory

Andrew Pinckney had a huge day at the plate while Garrett McMillan threw six strong inning to propel Alabama to the victory.

Pinckney had two three-run home runs — one in the first inning and one in the fifth — to lead the Crimson Tide charge on offense with six RBI. The second one came amid a monster inning in which Alabama scored eight runs, including a two-run home run from Colby Shelton. Jim Jarvis also added two-run single in the inning.

McMillan threw a gem on the mound, striking out six and allowing just one run through six full innings of work. Braylon Myers came on in the seventh to close things out and help Alabama win via run rule.

After Sunday’s rubber match, Texas A&M will close out the regular season with a three-game series against Mississippi State May 18-20. Alabama, meanwhile, will round out the campaign against Ole Miss for a three-game set back in Tuscaloosa.

Both teams will then make their way to Hoover, Alabama for the SEC Tournament, which gets underway May 23.
