Hicksville (N.Y.) Holy Trinity Diocesan four-star athlete Josiah Brown has narrowed his list of top schools down to seven.

The list includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and Rutgers.

Brown is the No. 219 overall prospect and No. 9 athlete in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in New York.

“Location does not matter to me. I will go anywhere,” Brown told On3 in January. “The most important thing for me is academics. I was raised to put them first. After that, it comes down to football. I want to be developed to meet my full potential. Then it is about the culture. Relationships are important to me. I will see who fits me the best.”

The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder holds several Power Five offers and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Rutgers as the favorite to land a commitment from Brown at 50.7%.

While he’s visited Rutgers more than any other schools, he hasn’t visited the Scarlet Knights since January. He did visit Penn State this spring though heading to Happy Valley on April 13.

“I have not been to a game at Penn State yet, but I have visited there a couple of times,” Brown said of the Nittany Lions in January. “The academics at Penn State is a really big part of my interest in them. They showed me their academics when I was there in January and that was big. The staff is big too. They always welcome me, my family and the culture is great.”

One of Brown’s newest offers is from Alabama. The Crimson Tide extended their offer to him on March 31 it’s one he told BamaInsider’s Joseph Hastings that really stood out.

“I was extremely happy because being from Long Island, it doesn’t usually happen that someone gets attention from Alabama,” Brown said. “It was from Coach Rees because he was from Notre Dame and he’s now recruiting me at Alabama, too.”

Brown currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $69K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
