Four-star shooting guard Kur Teng completed his first official visit on Sunday. The Haverhill (MA) Bradford Christian junior took in the sights and sounds of Lansing, Michigan, as the Michigan State football team hosted and beat Wisconsin.

On3 caught up with the 2024 On3 150 No. 32 player to get his thoughts on the visit.

“Just being able to see the culture,” Teng told On3. “How they are one big family. Everything stood out; it was all great, and the campus and the facilities were great. But the fact it’s like one big family there really stood out.”

Teng played up in age this summer with the Mass Rivals program on the Adidas 3SSB 17u Circuit. This was his second season playing up on the 17u level with the travel program. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 14.3 points while shooting 37.5 percent from three in 17 games. His 0.927 points per possession was in the 85th percentile among his peers.

“They play fast and also like to come off a lot of pin-downs,” Teng said. “It’s a lot like I do now in high school, so it won’t be much of a change.”

Teng carries close to 20 offers. His most recent offers have come from Miami, TCU, Iowa, Temple, Auburn, and VCU. Teng does not have any more visits set yet but is looking to take more.

Coach talk

Teng is coached in travel ball and in high school by the very well-respected Vin Pastore.

“He’s as good a guard as I’ve ever coached coming off pin downs and staggers screens,” Pastore said. “He has an efficient stroke with the ball always in the shot pocket and an efficient game. He scores a lot of points without taking a lot of shots.

“Kur really knows how to play.”

Teng’s scouting report

Kur Teng has a basketball frame, with broad shoulders and long arms. He has a smooth feel on the floor, with a great pace. A smooth catch-and-shoot player with consistent picture-esque form. While Teng is a slightly above-average athlete, he can attack closeouts and get to the basket or pull up for a jump shot. Comes from basketball genes, as he has multiple siblings currently playing college basketball. Coaches and those around him rave about his work ethic and approach.
