Atlanta (Ga) Pace Academy sophomore Kyle Greene, Jr. has become a hot topic in recruiting circles this season.

“I’m a facilitating point guard who can score,” Greene told On3. “I lock in on defense, I am lanky, so I like to use my length. Offensively, I like getting downhill and scoring where I can. Over the last eight months, I have become more of a point guard with assists going up. I have started to feel up the state sheet more with steals and rebounds. I’m not just scoring, and I am contributing a lot to my team winning.

“I watch James Harden often. I like how he mixes combo moves, creates space for himself, creates space for his teammates. His role in Brooklyn resembles what I do here at Pace.”

The 6-foot-2 point guard played with the Upward Stars SE program this summer. He caught the eye of college coaches playing on Adidas’ 3SSB circuit.

Greene, Jr’s recruitment

“Of the schools who have offered me,” Greene, Jr. says, “I would say I hear from LSU and South Carolina the most. I have taken unofficial visits to Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech.”

South Carolina: “They really work in the weight room, they take that piece really seriously, and they spent a lot of time during my visit talking about that. Their pitch to me is to stay home. Home town team, home town kid, they are talking about bringing something big to the city, and I like that.”

LSU: “They want a point guard, and they like point guards who can score. They talk a lot about Cam Thomas, who used to play for Boo Williams like I used to; they see a lot of similarities with us two. They’re just wanting a scoring point guard.”

Georgia: “When I went there, they showed me a lot of things with their practices. They are really intense, and they focus a lot on spacing. They focus a lot on the little things. I think I might be going to a game of theirs soon.”

“Butler has not offered me yet, but I hear from them a good bit; Tennessee too,” Greene, Jr. said. “I will be looking for a school that accepts me. I want a good social life, a good school, I don’t want anything too crazy. Not too far away, but not too close. I really just need the perfect mix of basketball and school. I will know it when I see it.”

Kyle Greene, Jr. is a confident lead guard who plays with a great pace. He has good size and plays defense with a purpose. With a strong pull-up game, he is streaky shooting from three off the catch but is comfortable shooting off the bounce. Greene, Jr. is a solid athlete, using a crafty change of pace to get defenders on his hip. He can take a bump in traffic and finish the play. Greene, Jr. is tracking as a top 100 type prospect in the 2023 class.
