Ole Miss linebacker Khari Coleman is currently not participating in team activities, Lane Kiffin confirmed on Saturday afternoon. It’s a disciplinary issue. There is a report that he was involved in an indecent exposure incident on August 4th by Ole Miss police. The report from UPD says the incident happened at 1:38 AM at the residential college on campus. The incident report is not available online due to the fact that it’s currently an ongoing investigation.

Coleman was on the preseason watch list for the Dick Butkus Award, annually given out to the nation’s top linebacker. He was also named preseason fourth team All-SEC by Phil Steele.

Transferring in from TCU ahead of fall camp last season Coleman became a key piece of the Ole Miss defense, specifically at the second level. Coleman appeared in 11 of the 13 games last season, starting in four of them. He tallied 42 total tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble and two quarterback hurries. He tied for the team lead in tackles for loss.

Coleman’s Ole Miss debut against Troy last season saw him record five tackles for loss in the 2022 season opener. He was the third Rebel since 1999 with at least 5.0 TFL in a single game.

During his time at TCU, in 2020, he earned freshman All-American honors and Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors after he finished seventh nationally in tackles for loss.

As a high school prospect, Coleman attended G.W. Carver High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 614 overall recruit in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2020 cycle.

Coleman was a dominant pass rusher during his high school days as well, racking up 27.5 sacks and 33 quarterback hurries as a senior. He also racked up five forced fumbles. The 27.5 sacks ranked him fifth in the country in that stat category, while the 227 sack yards ranked him first in the nation. For his career, he racked up 277 total tackles to go along with 91.5 tackles for loss and 46.5 sacks. He also forced 16 fumbles, recovering eight, blocking three kicks, and tallying three defensive touchdowns.

Coleman earned all-state honors from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. He was also named to George Washington Carver’s 2010-2019 All-Decade Team. Once he chose the Horned Frogs he picked them over Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kansas State, West Virginia, and Navy.
