Would Georgia Bulldogs Be A Good Fit For Transfer Portal QB Jaden Rashada? | Best & Worst Cases

Louisville cornerback Marcus Washington plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Washington enters the transfer portal once again after starting his college career off at Georgia, as he’ll now seek a third program to call home ahead of the 2024 season. With Fawcett reporting that Washington has signed the papers necessary to enter the portal with three years of eligibility remaining.

At Georgia, Washington recorded just one tackle in his lone season with the Bulldogs versus Samford. Deciding to transfer out of the program despite being a Georgia legacy, with his father Marcus Washington Sr. playing linebacker for the Bulldogs and his son spending time in the Bulldogs’ locker room growing up. Living in Athens much of his life after his father signed with Georgia when he was five months old.

With the Cardinals Washington logged appearances in 13 of Louisville’s 14 games last season but recorded zero stats. As the 6-foot-2, 205-pound defensive back now plans to enter the portal for the third time ahead of his third college football season.

Washington played high school football at Grovetown High School in Georgia, where he was a four-star prospect. Ranked the No. 110 overall recruit and the No. 14 cornerback in the 2022 cycle, according to On3’s Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In high school Washington reclassified to play in the 2022 prep season recording 48 tackles, one sack, and two fumble recoveries as a senior, also returning 14 kickoffs for 200 yards and showing off his speed as a track and field standout.

“Among the more athletic top cornerbacks in the 2023 cycle. Consistently turns in sub-11.0 second 100-meter times with a personal best of 10.76 as a sophomore. Also tests as a top athlete in the combine setting,” On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power said regarding Washington out of high school. “Pairs that athleticism with good size at 6-foot, 180 pounds. Primarily plays as a corner and safety for his high school. Shows some physicality as a run defender and on special teams. Relatively low impact in other phases of the game compared to other top corners who often play on both sides of the ball. Will need to continue improving his ball skills and overall playmaking ability.”
