Louisville transfer Samuell Williamson has committed to SMU, he told On3 on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-7 junior wing averaged 5.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists on 45.6% from the field this past season. During the 2020-21 season, he averaged 9.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists. Williamson has two years of eligibility remaining.

“I chose SMU due to the relationship I’ve developed with coach Lanier over the last couple weeks,” Williamson said to On3. “I felt a level of genuineness, honesty, and belief in me when talking about the opportunity. I felt confident about their player development and their ability to make me better. I heard nothing but great things about coach Lanier from many people and knew this was the spot for me to continue my basketball career while also returning home!”

Williamson is a native of Rockwall, Texas, right outside of Dallas. He is a former five-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American. Coming out of high school, Williamson picked the Cardinals over Kansas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and others.
