Australian prospect Marcus Vaughns, a 6-foot-8 small forward in the class of 2026, has committed to LSU, he told On3.

Vaughns chooses LSU over the NBL Next Stars program, an initiative by the Australian pro National Basketball League (NBL) designed to develop young, NBA-eligible talent.

Vaughns made a trip to Baton Rouge to visit the Tigers back in mid-February. It’s evident he enjoyed his time on campus.

“The visit was awesome,” Vaughns said to TheBengalTiger’s Matthew Brune. “It really blew me away. I already knew their facilities were top tier, but when I saw it, it really blew my mind. The coaching staff, the performance center, the academic centers, it’s all very nice and LSU is an amazing place.”

LSU associate head coach David Patrick has known Vaughns since he was a youngster.

“I have a good relationship with coach McMahon considering the first time I met him was at the visit,” Vaughns said to Matthew Brune. “Coach David Patrick, I’ve known him basically my whole life, since I was like five years old. It was good to build a relationship with the rest of the staff as well.

“Coach Patrick has known my dad [for a long time]. When he was at TCU, he would fly out to Australia pretty regularly and I met him at a practice and ever since then I see him everytime he flies out. Just recently he flew out to come watch one of my practices.”

Vaugns recently played with Center of Excellence in Australia, but also spent time at the NBA Global Academy.

He is currently unranked by any national recruiting site, but On3 rates him as a three-star prospect.
