It’s a big weekend in College Station, as Texas A&M looks to get back on track in its SEC opener against Auburn. The Aggies have a chance to impress a host of recruits in attendance at Kyle Field.

One of the elite prospects taking a look on is already pledged to another SEC program. Duncanville (Texas) four-star running back and LSU commit Caden Durham made the in-state trip for his first stop on campus since his June official visit.

Durham committed to LSU over A&M and Oklahoma on Aug. 10. Ultimately, it was the relationships and family feel in Baton Rouge that won the tailback over. Durham is the No. 107 prospect and No. 8 RB in the 2024 cycle, per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

“From Coach John (Jancek), Coach Frank, Coach Sherm (Wilson) … I’m close with all of the coaches and every one of the staff,” Durham told On3. “Every time I come down there, it’s like family showing love, the people there, the whole nine yards.”

“The athletes there work hard, but they also have fun and you could see that when we were there … everyone was laughing,” he continued. “It isn’t all about football; they’re also worried about life after football.”

Durham has an On3 NIL Valuation of $119K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Two of Texas A&M’s five highest-ranked pledges are also in attendance in Phenix City (Ala.) Central five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman and Beaumont (Texas) On3 five-star offensive tackle Weston Davis. Both are top-100 prospects and help the Aggies boast the No. 5 class in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.

Caden Durham Scouting Summary

“Big-play runner with home-run speed along with a compact build that allows for an every down role. Measured at a shade under 5-foot-9 and around 195 pounds prior to his senior season. Has continued to fill out his compact frame. One of the fastest running backs and overall skill players in the 2024 cycle. Consistently runs the 100 meters in the 10.5 second range with wind-aided times as low as the 10.2’s. Finished 3rd in the state finals as a junior with a 10.53 second mark. Also ran a personal best of 21.54 seconds in the 200 meters. Transfers that speed over the field with ease, where he is one of the more prominent home-run hitters in the cycle. Blows past defenders at the second level, winning the foot race on every occasion. Rips off long touchdown runs with regularity. Wastes little time in getting downhill. Works to hit the hole as quickly as possible.

Shows the ability to read his blocks and make cutbacks behind the line when necessary. Shows good contact balance, using his lower base to bounce off of contact. A solid receiver out of the backfield who is dangerous on wheel and angle routes. Highly productive as a junior while leading his team to a state title in Texas’ highest classification. Rushed for 1,960 yards and 36 touchdowns on 210 carries (9.3 yards per carry). Can continue working on his run maximization and lateral agility. While he has good mass, may be limited from a growth potential perspective due to his shorter stature. Young for the class with a May birthday.”
