Legacy OL recruit Canon Pickett commits to Miami: "You can't beat family"

Tampa Bay (Fla.) Tech blue-chip offensive lineman and Miami legacy recruit Canon Pickett has committed to Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes.
The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Pickett was back in Coral Gables over the weekend and has taken countless visits to campus. His father Booker Pickett Sr. played for The U and Canon will join his older brother who heads into his sophomore season this fall.
“I’m very excited,” Pickett said. “I’ve been waiting.”
Pickett chose to play at Miami over Clemson and Florida among many others. He had 50-plus scholarship opportunities.
“I’ve always liked Miami,” Pickett said. “They’ve been recruiting me since I was a freshman. They have some of the best assistant coaches. They have Coach (Alex) Mirabal and Coach Cristobal are some of the best offensive line coaches in the game.
“My brother goes there. You can’t beat family.”
“They have a strong academic program, Ill thrive in that and I feel like its the best spot for me overall.”

Pickett becomes commit No. 12 for Miami in the 2026 cycle. He loves the trajectory of the program.
“They’ve definitely been on upwards trend,” Pickett said. “They’re starting to get closer and closer to that 2001 Miami team. This recruiting class I’m in and previous ones the competition level at practice will be great. I’m just excited and going to do nothing but improve.”
One more major offensive line target for Miami
Tabbed by the On3 Industry as the nation’s No. 50 interior offensive line prospect, Pickett joins an offensive line class that includes the top-ranked player in America regardless of position in five-star Jackson Cantwell, four-star Ben Congdon along with fellow in-state targets Joel Ervin, JJ Sparks and Rhys Woodrow.
Moving forward, Miami is all in on four-star Breck Kolojay. The IMG Academy product was on campus over the weekend and heads to Georgia this weekend. It’s coming down to the Hurricanes and Bulldogs for him.
