In just his second season, former Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons has proven to be one of the best defensive players in the NFL. Now playing for the Dallas Cowboys, Parsons is one of the league’s best pass rushers, with numerous honors and several multi-sack games throughout his career.

Michael Gehlken, a Dallas Cowboys writer, took to Twitter to reveal a crazy story about Micah Parsons’ attitude and approach to playing through injuries.

Micah Parsons suffered a groin injury early in Dallas’ game against the Los Angeles Rams. He later returned to the game to record another multi-sack performance. It was the third multi-sack game that Parsons has recorded this season and the sixth of his career. He’s played in 22 career games.

George Edwards, a senior defensive assistant, checked in with Micah Parsons to see if he could go back into the game. Parsons replied, “George, as long as I’m alive, I can go.”

You have to be tough to play in the NFL and Micah Parsons is clearly all that and more. You also just have to hope that the Cowboys would be willing to hold him out of a game for his own health and safety if need be. Parsons shortening his career because he doesn’t give his body time to heal would be a huge loss to the sport.

The comments also come at a unique time for the NFL, as it is once again working to prove that the league cares about player safety in the wake of Tua Tagovailoa’s injuries.

Micah Parsons has recently shrugged off injury concerns

Recently, Micah Parsons has shrugged off concerns about injuries and the wear and tear the game of football puts on his body while speaking to the media after Dallas’ win over Washington.

“I feel like I just played four quarters of football. It comes with the game. I know what I signed up for,” Micah Parsons said. “It’s just football.”
