Micah Robinson moved up to No. 82 in the recent 2024 On3 150 update. At 6-foot-6, he earned big minutes this summer playing up in age with his Southern Assault team on the Adidas 3SSB 17u Circuit.

“My game is pretty versatile,” Robinson told On3. “Being me size being like 6-foot-6, and 220 pounds, I can guard multiple positions, the one through four, and depending on who it is, I can guard to five. My quickness and ability to move side to side allows me to stay in front of smaller guards. With the ball I’m really good with my back to the basket. I’m good in the pick and roll, a good playmaker, and I can knock down open shots.”

The four-star transferred this summer to play at Mouth of Wilson (VA) Oak Hill Academy. On3 caught up with Micah Robinson at a recent workout to talk about the state of his recruitment.

“Right now I have offers from SMU, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, TCU, Kansas, Kansas State, Seton Hall, and LSU,” Robinson said. “Recently I’ve been hearing the most from LSU. I talk with the coach from Kansas at least once a week, Texas Tech, Seton Hall. I don’t have any visits set yet, but I want to set something up with LSU, Texas Tech, Seton Hall, and Kansas for sure.”

Robinson talks recruitment

LSU: “I know that they have history there, an history of getting dudes to the league. When I went down there a few weeks ago, they were saying how they like my size and how I already have a college body. They think I’ll be able to play multiple roles, wherever I’m needed. On the visit I saw they had a live Tiger. I mean I knew they had a tiget for their mascot, but his name is Mike. He has a little houst right outside the stadium, so that was pretty cool.”

Kansas: “I also visited them back in around March. While I was there, they showed me a video, “The Kansas Experience”. They show me like player comparison clips of me and how I would fit in if I, if I were to go there. They showed me clips of Kelly Oubre from when he was there, Andrew Wiggins, people like that. Coach Kurtis (Townsend) keeps saying how he likes my size and positional versatilty and have the potential to develop into that type of role or player that has been in their program. I’m from Kansas, so I grew up watching Kansas basketball.

Texas Tech: “One thing I like about them is their defense. They’re heavily defense oriented and my AAU team are also heavily defensive oriented. So I’m used to defense as a part of my game. I feel like, going there, playing defense, I will be able to score. That’s something that is very important in the league.

“So if I were to go there and prove I can do both {defense and offense} at a high level, then that would ultimately give a good chance to make it to.”

Seton Hall: “I don’t know much about their program yet, but I’ve been talking with Coach (Stephen) Cruz. They called last week and we’ve been texting every since. I’m definitely interested in learning more about their program. I know they have history, so I want to learn move about the coaching staff. They just made that run in the NCAA tournament and all that stuff too.”

“I’m hearing a lot from Arkansas too,” Robinson said. “A couple times a week, but they haven’t offered yet.”

In his words

“I’ll be looking at the engeries of the programs,” Micah Robinson said. “I want things to be genuine and not feel forced. That is important, them actually wanting and needing me on their team instead of them just trying to get me to get me to go there.

“I want to play for coaches who are genuine with me and they actually want me. A coach who can see what I can develop into. If their intention with me match with my intentions with them, if they’re willing to help me get to where I want to go.

“System and style of play will matter because it would be bad to go into a situation where I wouldn’t be able to perform at my best abilities. That’ll definitely have an impact. I’m developing into a player who can create his own shot, and more of a shot maker type. Ideally, I want to play in a system where defense is important, but also where I’ll be able to play freely, but also within a system at the same time.”
