Charles Woodson Jr. will be a familiar name to most in Ann Arbor. The Orlando Lake Nona safety and class of 2027 four-star prospect is the son of Michigan legend and NFL Hall of Famer Charles Woodson.

Woodson Jr.’s recruitment is beginning to pick up as he prepares for his junior season. On Wednesday, he landed an offer from the school that his father made a name at three decades ago.

Michigan secondary coach Lamar Morgan has offered the 5-foot-11 DB:

Woodson Jr. is more than just a legacy name, too. He currently ranks as the No. 284 overall prospect and No. 31 safety in the 2027 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 28 player in Florida.

He picked up his first Power Four offer from Syracuse in January. Since then, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Florida State and Baylor have all followed suit. Add U-M to the list.

As a sophomore for Lake Nona, Woodson Jr. recorded 53 tackles, two pass breakups, one interception and a fumble recovery. The Lions finished with a 7-4 record in 2024.

Coach’s Take on Charles Woodson Jr.

Earlier this year, Lake Nona head coach David Aubrey broke down what makes Woodson Jr. special when speaking with On3’s Steve Wiltfong:

“Charles embodies the qualities every coach looks for in a standout player,” Aubrey said. “Natural talent, strong work ethic, and leadership skills.

“His commitment to our program and teammates is a testament to both his character and the culture we are building at Lake Nona High School. Highlighting players like Charles not only reflects his growth but also reinforces the positive trajectory of our football program.”

“Charles is an exceptional talent with the instincts and skills that set him apart on the field,” Aubrey said. “His ability to play downhill with intensity, combined with his range to cover sideline to sideline, makes him a versatile and impactful player. His football IQ, undoubtedly influenced by his lineage from the legendary Charles Woodson, shines through in his understanding of the game. With his natural ability, work ethic, and eagerness to grow, his potential is limitless. It’s exciting to see how he continues to develop as a cornerstone of our program.”
