National Football Foundation announces 2024 College Football Hall of Fame class

The NFF (National Football Foundation) has announced the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame class, which includes 19 players and three coaches.

Atop this year’s HOF class are names like all-time great wide receivers Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald, though former No. 1 overall picks Alex Smith and Tim Couch are also on this year’s list. Julius Peppers, Danny Woodhead and Justin Blackmon, among many other deserving names that span across six decades from the 1970s through the 2010s.

Moss and Smith were able to learn of their inductions live on air during NFL Countdown on Sunday. Smith is the first-ever former Utah player to be inducted into the hall of fame.

Coaches:

  • Mark Dantonio – 132-74-0 (64.1%): Cincinnati (2004-06), Michigan State (2007-19)
  • Danny Hale – 213-69-1 (75.4%): West Chester [PA] (1984-88), Bloomsburg [PA] (1993-2012) 
  • Frank Solich – 173-101-0: Nebraska (1998-2003), Ohio (2005-2020) 

Archie Manning, the NFF Chairman and patriarch of arguably the patriarch of the greatest quarterback dynasty in football history, has released a statement to go along with the announcement of this year’s class.

“We are extremely proud to announce the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame Class,” Manning, who is a 1989 College Football Hall of Famer from Mississippi, said. “Each of these men has established himself among the absolute best to have ever played or coached the game, and we look forward to immortalizing their incredible accomplishments.”

The class will have to wait until Dec. 10, 2024 to officially be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The inductions ceremony will be held during the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas. It will be held at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Each inductee will receive a custom ring during the ceremony.
