Westlake (Ohio) St. Edward interior offensive lineman Mason Wilhelm has committed to North Carolina, he announced on Sunday.

He chose the Tar Heels after taking an official visit to Chapel Hill this weekend. The likes of Syracuse, Baylor and Vandy have also offered.

Ranked as a three-star prospect by multiple recruiting services, Wilhelm is currently unranked in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Head coach Bill Belichick and Co. have garnered momentum on the recruiting trail throughout the spring and are now welcoming in another wave of official visitors as the summer looms. Wilhelm is the latest to join the UNC class that is now back to 14 total commits.

Wilhelm plays for an elite high school football program in Ohio. Last season, he helped guide St. Edward to a nine-win campaign. The Eagles finished as the No. 14 team in the Buckeye State, per the On3 Composite Rankings.

More on North Carolina Recruiting

Mount Olive (N.C.) North Duplin four-star defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin remains the top-ranked member of UNC’s class, now checking in as the No. 253 recruit and No. 25 DL overall. He flipped from Texas A&M in March.

In May, Belichick and Co. landed its quarterback this cycle in Loganville (Ga.) Grayson three-star Travis Burgess. The No. 24 signal-caller in the cycle, Burgess chose the ACC program over Auburn, NC State and others.

“Just the coaches at UNC, I mean all three programs have good coaches but Coach Belichick took me in the office and went over my film play by play with me and to have a legend take time to break down my film and personally talk to me about a plan to develop me is what really helped me make the decision after talking to my mom and dad,” Burgess told On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

Other top commits in the class include: Katy (Texas) Jordan three-star defensive lineman Jimmy Alo-Suliafu, New Rochelle (N.Y.) Iona Prep three-star running back Crew Davis, Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra three-star cornerback Marcellous Ryan, Los Angeles Rancho Cucamonga three-star CB Justin Lewis, Boston Dexter School three-star interior offensive lineman Anthony Hall and Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller three-star tight end Cooper McCutchan.

The class now ranks No. 35 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. That’s good for No. 7 in the ACC, checking in ahead of Boston College, Cal, Duke, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Pitt and others.
