The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 3A state title game is underway in Miami at Pitbull Stadium and a former Sunshine State superstar is in attendance.

Ohio State sophomore wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is in attendance to watch Jacksonville Raines and Miami Northwestern square off on Friday night. He’s on the sidelines alongside another familiar face in former Northwestern head coach and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Smith, of course, starred for Chaminade-Madonna Prep, but his presence makes an already big game feel even bigger. He’ll get to see another high-profile receiver — Northwestern’s Calvin Russell — in action.

Across his junior and senior seasons for the Lions, Smith caught 153 passes and turned them into over 2,400 yards and 39 touchdowns. He won multiple state titles and of course finished as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle and has gone on to flourish in his first two seasons for the Buckeyes.

Rivals’ Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power wrote this of Smith as he blossomed into an elite high school recruit:

“One of the more talented and well-rounded receiver prospects in recent cycles. The highest-rated wide receiver prospect from Florida in well over a decade. A big, skilled receiver with fluidity and savvy for the position … Regularly stacks cornerbacks off the line. Pairs his route-running ability with advanced ball skills. Has strong hands and comes down with catches in traffic. A high-level ball tracker with the ability to locate the football over his shoulder. Capable of making fantastic one-handed grabs. Also flashes ability after the catch. Has the size to run through contact and a long stride to pull away in the open field.”

Both Raines and Northwestern enter Friday night undefeated and both rank as top-five teams in the Sunshine State, according to the Massey Ratings. Rivals’ Andy Villamarzo has more on players to watch and how to watch the 3A state final on Friday night.
